TVYT is a youth theatre for young people aged 8 to 21 living in the Tyne Valley and surrounding area in North East England.

We are an ensemble company so our focus is strong team work and an environment which is fun, supportive and encouraging. At TVYT you get out what you put in. We don't audition our members. All we ask is that you come with lots of enthusiasm and a willingness to have a go.

TVYT also offers opportunities to take on roles such as lighting, sound, directing, design, marketing, fundraising and stage management.

Get Involved

Future TVYT Activities include:

Play in a Day

A group meet in the morning and explore ideas around a particular theme or stimulus. By the end of the day they have devised a short play which is performed to an invited audience.

Specialised Projects

These include performances for very young audiences, site specific performances, play writing projects and local touring.

Specialist Skill Workshops

These one-off workshops are led by a visiting artist or practitioner in subjects such as improvisation, stage fighting, clowning, stage fighting, lighting and sound design or circus and will be programmed according to the interests of the TVYT members.

Local or National Festivals and Competitions

National Student Drama Festival, National Theatre Connections, Shakespeare Schools Festival and Edinburgh Festival all offer opportunities to showcase the talent of TVYT.
